GPS Machine Control Program is an innovative, comprehensive, 80hr certified course. This program is scheduled Monday thru Friday for two weeks and explains the infrastructure of GPS and provides hands on experience in GPS Machine Control applications.
WEEK 1:
What is GPS and How it Works
Provides in dept information about the technology associated with GPS and who developed it and why it exists and its limitations.
Fundamental Job Site setup Operations
Introduce job site uniqueness and job site limitations. Present steps to properly layout and calibrate a job site for the purpose of survey and excavation applications and implement practices on simulated job site.
Examples: Correct Base Station location, Benchmark locations, Job Site Obstructions.
Software Fundamentals
Explain the different features of the Rover software, discuss and demonstrate with hands on training the particular application to properly accomplish every site task effectively and efficiently. Examples: Creating a New Job, Keying in Points, Stake Points, Measure Points, Stake Surface, Measure Surface, Line Stakeout, Compute Area and Distance, Three Point Plane, est. Trainee will be able to recognize the most effective feature for each individual job site challenge.
Data Processing
Explore the steps to building a 3D module of the job site and installing it into the dozer and producing a finished product in the field.
GPS Troubleshooting
Demonstrate occasional problems that occur on a job site with GPS and repair any problem individually without outside resources.
WEEK 2:
Grade Control Systems
Introduce different Grade Control Systems and there unique features. Explain in detail the system used in the training course and its specific characteristics. Discuss GPS at work and what it means to the construction worker.
(CAN) and Dozers
Discuss Controller Area Networks (CAN) and its components used in the control process. Diagnose and repair basic CAN problems when they arise. Demonstrate how to connect the CAN harness to the Dozer.
On Site Equipment Operation
Cover how to operate Dozer GPS equipment navigate the different displays within the control box. Simulate real job site excavation operations for a comprehensive final result.
Dozer GPS Troubleshooting
Cover basic Dozer antennae problems that can occur. Use on board diagnostics to repair connection problems between different components.
